New Daily Office Guide Available

The ancient Christian practice of beginning and ending each day with Bible reading and prayer is known as the “Daily Office” – as in the “daily service” or “daily duty” of Christians.

It finds its roots in ancient Israel. God’s people were commanded to talk about God’s word “when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise” (Deut. 6:7). Our mornings and evenings (and the day in between!) are important to God.

How To Use This Guide

This guide can be used by individuals alone, or by families around a meal table, or by any group of Christians gathered together. When used in a group setting, the words in bold type are intended to be read in unison.

The guide provides morning and evening devotions for Monday through Saturday, with Sunday given to corporate worship in the local church.

The morning office readies us for the day, inviting us to praise God and to intercede for ourselves and others. The evening office is more reflective, looking back on the day to notice how God has been with us.
