Youth Ministry Intern

Terms of Employment: 10 to 20 hours per week (negotiable), one year contract

General Description

The Youth Ministry Intern participates alongside the body of believers at Immanuel Christian Reformed Church (ICRC) to draw and disciple our youth towards the Christian faith that they might be transformed to be more like Christ.

Responsibilities

  • Support Youth Ministry on Fridays (7.30PM to 10.00PM), Sundays from (10.00 – 11.15AM).
  • Prepare weekly lesson plans.
  • Coordinate with volunteer team.
  • Regular meetings with assigned mentor - weekly (20 hours/week), fortnightly (10 hours/week).
  • Lead summer camp.

Qualifications

  • Loves working with and worshiping alongside youth.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English, fluency in spoken Mandarin advantageous but not required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Discord and Instagram.
  • Adherence to the doctrines of the Christian Reformed Church of North America.
  • Criminal record check required.
  • Experience in youth ministry preferred.

Growth Opportunities

  • Successful interns will be given priority for progression within the Youth Ministry towards a full-time Youth Ministry Coordinator position.
  • Interns completing a postgraduate degree at recognized seminaries will be given priority for progression towards a full-time Youth Ministry Pastor position.

Youth Ministry Pastor

Terms of Employment: Full-Time position.

Responsibilities

  • Report to the ICRC Council (Youth Ministry Committee); submit a ministry report monthly.
  • Ministry scope includes those from Grade-8 to college or university undergraduate levels.
  • Lead the high schoolers fellowship (Salt Fellowship) and grow it in quality and quantity.
  • Formulate and implement a discipleship plan and a Christian education curriculum for high-schoolers.
  • Lead the collegians fellowship or small groups and grow these in quality and quantity.
  • Formulate and implement a discipleship plan and a Christian education curriculum for collegians.
  • Teach Youth Bible Class (Sunday) and other youth classes.
  • Formulate and implement an annual evangelism and outreach plan, with special attention to un-churched youth in Richmond -- such as providing evangelism training, organizing Connect events (meeting unbelievers) and Gospel events (proclaim Christ), mobilizing trained people to do evangelism, etc.
  • Formulate and implement a long-term ministry plan (2-5 years) in consultation with the Youth Ministry Committee which includes all the above.
  • Do various tasks assigned by YMC such as assisting in the English ministry, VBS, Fall Carnival, worship services, children ministry, special events, etc.

Qualifications

  • Godly life, daily devotion habit, clear call to ministry.
  • Shepherd's caring heart, good interpersonal skills.
  • Strong burden for the unsaved.
  • Good leadership and team-building skills.
  • Of Evangelical faith.
  • Adherence to CRCNA doctrines, rites and traditions (see crcna.org & icrc.ca).
  • M.Div. from a seminary recognized by ICRC (or in process).
  • Pastoral experience is helpful.
  • Able to work harmoniously in multi-lingual ministry setting.

Children’s Ministry Intern

The Children’s Ministry Intern participates alongside the body of believers at Immanuel Christian Reformed Church (ICRC) to teach children the Christian faith that they might be transformed to be more like Christ.

Responsibilities

  • Support Children’s Ministry on Fridays (7.30PM to 10.00PM), Sundays (10.00AM to 1.00PM).
  • Prepare weekly lesson plans.
  • Coordinate with volunteer team.
  • Regular meetings with assigned mentor - weekly (20 hours/week), fortnightly (10 hours/week).

Children’s Ministry Pastor

Terms of Employment: 10 to 20 hours per week (negotiable), one year contract

General Description

Responsible for toddlers/preschool to Grade 7 in all ICRC congregations. Lead the Children Sunday School, KidsConnect and other activities. Recruit and provide training for volunteer teachers and assistants. Adhere to CRCNA doctrine. Graduate of a recognized seminary. At least two years of children ministry experience. With a shepherd’s caring heart and good interpersonal skills. Fluent in English. Able to communicate in Mandarin.

Responsibilities

  • Report to the ICRC Council (Children Ministry Committee); submit a ministry report on a monthly basis
  • Ministry scope includes toddlers/preschool to Grade 7 in whole ICRC
  • Lead the children Sunday School, KidsConnect, Vacation Bible School, Fall Carnival and other children activities
  • Come up with suitable curricula for children Sunday School and for KidsConnect and implement these
    • Teach children classes as needed
    • Recruit teachers and assistants for children ministry from all language groups (English, Mandarin and Minnan)
  • Provide training for children ministry teachers, assistant and other volunteers
  • Provide children program as needed during fellowship events, ICRC special events, etc.
  • Formulate and implement a long-term ministry plan (2-5 years) in consultation with the Children Ministry Committee which includes all the above
  • Do various tasks assigned by CMC such as organizing children number at special events, assisting at anniversary or other special events, etc.

  • Godly life, daily devotion habit, clear call to ministry
  • Shepherd's caring heart, good interpersonal skills
  • Strong burden for the souls of children
  • Able to communicate and relate meaningfully with children and parents
  • Aware of contemporary children issues such as child safety, single-parent home, generation gap, etc.
  • Administrative and management skills including communication (written & verbal), teamwork & team management, responsibility, time management, organization, planning, creating & keeping deadlines, delegation, goal setting and meeting goals (productivity), decision making, program management, coordinating events, problem solving, attention to detail, independence, impartiality, conflict resolution, proactive, empathy
  • Able to work harmoniously in multi-lingual ministry setting; to treat everyone equally with no preferential treatment of certain individuals or group within the ICRC church family
  • Able to work well with our Pastoral Team
  • Of Evangelical faith
  • Adherence to CRCNA doctrines, rites and traditions (see crcna.org & icrc.ca)
  • With theological training at a seminary recognized by ICRC
  • At least two years of children ministry experience in a Christian setting
  • Able to converse in English and Mandarin; Amoy/Minnan proficiency is a plus
  • Accept without reservation the 5-point goal of our Children Ministry: To nurture a growing relationship with Jesus through Bible learning, Bible memorization, learning to pray and praise, obedience, and service for the Lord
